EARTH, WIND & FIRE
THE 30-YEAR DOCUMENTARY
"SHINING STARS"
THE OFFICIAL STORY

Earth Wind & Fire - Shining Stars - The Documentary
It's hard to decide
which is the more remarkable: Is it the stage performances, designed by magician
Doug Henning and his (then unknown) assistant, David Copperfield? Band members
levitated, flew, disappeared whilst whirling lights and lasers winked in sync.
Or is it their astonishing achievements (first Black act to top Billboard pop
single and album charts simultaneously in May 1975)? Is it the six consecutive
Double Platinum albums (2 million sales each) from 'That's The Way of the World'
to 'I Am'? Is it selling 100,000 tickets for Madison Square Gardens - and
developing theatrical concepts that are still the standard for live concerts
today? Or is it that 1997's 'In The Name of Love' was one of Earth, Wind &
Fire's best-received records in over a decade?
This performance
documentary will be a bold look into the award winning music of the legendary
band, Earth, Wind & Fire. One of the most prolific and enduring bands of the
last 30 years, it will reveal the inside story behind their songs, their
inspirations and the secret to their long-standing success. Exclusive interviews
with band members Maurice White (now sadly struck with Parkinson's Disease),
Verdine White, Philip Bailey and interviews with superstars such as Eric Benet
and Wyclef Jean will relate the story of a band who fused soul, funk, gospel,
blues, jazz, rock and dance music - creating a new kind of pop music.
In addition, this
program will showcase unseen footage, rare archival performances, rehearsal
sessions, behind the scenes at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame . . . and an
all-access pass into the good-vibin', 'foot-tappin', feel good music of the
incomparable Earth, Wind & Fire. Also, recently filmed footage of them
recording their latest album, produced by Maurice White and Wyclef Jean as they
mastermind the band's new album to be released on Sony Music.
Songs in the show will
include 'After the Love is Gone', 'Boogie Wonderland', 'Reasons', 'September',
'Shining Star', 'Can't Stop Love' and all their big hits as well as exclusive
first time recordings of new material for their latest album.
Earth, Wind & Fire
have inspired generations of music lovers and they're still going strong! Their
story is one of enduring talent, hard work and loyalty to their fans. Earth,
Wind & Fire's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2000
demonstrates that they have fulfilled the strictest of criteria - to be
influential, significant and to contribute to the development of music as we
know it.
