The Los Angeles Chapter of The Recording Academy and the Entertainment Industry Foundation will celebrate the career and music of GRAMMY Award-winning R&B group Earth, Wind & Fire at GRAMMY Jam on Dec. 11 at the Wiltern LG. GRAMMY Jam will feature artists and musicians performing a set of hits from the Earth, Wind & Fire catalog in a jam-style setting, including a finale featuring the distinguished group itself : Philip Bailey, Ralph Johnson, Maurice White, and Verdine White.

Earth, Wind & Fire will be joined by an array of talented performers including trumpet player Greg Adams; two-time GRAMMY Award winner Yolanda Adams; Miri Ben-Ari; Nuno Bettencourt; Sleepy Brown; GRAMMY Award winner George Duke; Sheila E.; 14-time GRAMMY Award-winning producer David Foster; Anthony Hamilton; Van Hunt; guitarist Paul Jackson Jr.; Randy Jackson; saxophonist Boney James; Khalèd; John Legend; four-time GRAMMY Award-winning guitarist Steve Lukather; Brian McKnight; Greg Phillinganes; GRAMMY Award winner Raphael Saadiq; Jill Scott; Wayman Tisdale; Kanye West; saxophonist Kirk Whalum; and many other surprise guests. Rickey Minor, noted musical director and current Los Angeles Chapter Trustee, is the event's executive producer.

All proceeds from GRAMMY Jam will benefit local organizations that support music and arts education, which include the GRAMMY Foundation, the Los Angeles Chapter Scholarship Program, California State Summer School for the Arts, Inner-City Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and For The Arts.

Six-time GRAMMY Award-winning legends Earth, Wind & Fire are recognized as one of the most accomplished, critically acclaimed, and commercially popular funk bands in music history. With a sound that crossed generational and demographic lines, Earth, Wind & Fire combined the highest standards of virtuosity with a holistic approach to showmanship. Throughout the course of their more than 30-year career, the group has composed such memorable R&B/funk classics as "Shining Star," "Reasons," "Boogie Wonderland," "Let's Groove," and "Mighty Mighty."

Today, the group features a lineup that mixes young talent with longtime pillars of the band. Earlier this year, Earth, Wind & Fire were honored with the prestigious Governors Award at the 2004 Recording Academy Membership Awards luncheon. Additionally, the group has received a nomination for "Show Me The Way" in the Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals category for the upcoming 47th Annual GRAMMY Awards.
